Hey Dave - love yr blog - esp the one about the Rigol 50MHz - I've got one! I'm looking at buying a fluke 289 and one of the things that you didnt mention about it that I think will be well worth while is the milliohm resistance scale, measuring coils, contacts, earth lines, FETs etc. it's just something a normal multi wont do

"Porn for engineers", that was my favourite comment. Only our kind understand it lol

I remember the main driving decision to purchase the meter was that I had heard most of the low end fluke meters were being manufactured in China.

@johneastmond The software they use is called flukeview forms

I'm an industrial service electrician working on aged machinery, I've had the 289 since is was first released, extremely happy with so far.
I'm moving to Sydney in a few weeks and would be happy to lend it to you for tearing apart

Those probs ARE sick! "Porn for engineers"LOL The best part is only engineers actually understand the rest of the video. That's interesting that Fluke built with off-the-shelf hardware. Do they use proprietary software? Sounds like I could have my advanced students build one themselves! Could you ever figure out where the amp draw came from?
