The film is about the plight of the displaced children, scattered across Afghanistan and neighboring countries. It explores who they are, where they come from, what they do, how they live, and what they see as their future. Issues of survival, money, food, education, family, values, occupation and above all identity are closely examined.
The film examines how, many of these children become ready and willing victims to the pervasive and incestuous culture of drugs, arms, and extremism which exists in many of the displaced Afghan communities. It also explores the social and societal fallout as the effects ripple through the system over time.
Towards the end of the cold war, the USA and the USSR fought their proxy battles on the dry and arid landscape of Afghanistan. This was but another link in a long chain of such confrontations between outsiders.
A lifetime of war served only to intensify the sense of disillusionment and resentment for its civilians, resulting in major civil unrest and, paving the way for Islamic zealots to take over the country.

Afghanistan could have seen an end to war alot earlier if the Afghans had accepted communism. Also the World Trade Centers would probably still stand.
