1995-1997 NFL on NBC theme music (Longer and higher quality version)

This is the theme music that NBC used for their final 3 seasons of NFL telecasts when they had the AFC package. It is one of my favorite sports themes ever.

I used Blaze Media Pro to capture this sound recording from NBC Sunday Night Football Extra online. This theme was played on NBC Sunday night Football Extra online most Sunday Nights prior to the start of the football game.

Here is a link to rapidshare where I uploaded an MP3 of this theme. It should be a little bit louder and slightly higher quality as I think some noise and a tiny bit of quality was lost after the youtube conversion.

I was SO upset when I found out they weren't bringing this theme back for sunday nights.

When did you find out they were not bringing it back. Was it when you first watched a SNF broadcast in 2006, or did you hear something about it even before the first SNF broadcast in 2006? Like were there any rumors about them considering bringing it back, but decided to do something else?

NBC should use this for their Championship Season promo, or else Notre Dame football.

Used to love this theme. Somehow it helped build up the dramatic tension of the game, especially Super Bowl 32. Wtf happened to the super bowl, used to be it was oregano analysis, player intros, national anthem, then game time. Now? It's crappy ass concerts, dog and pony shows and Christina aguilera screwing up the national anthem, then Fergie sounding like man at halftime. God I miss the old days of the nfl.

How did we get from this theme to Faith Hill? I'm 16 yrs. old and I think this is better than the opening they have. I mean, I want to tune in to NBC before the game to prepare for a war, not a concert!

@bakerandbaker1 Good point about the 3 tone NBC jingle. Doesn't NBC cover the Olympics this year? They could even use it for that, but it will never happen.

I like the John Williams composition myself, but I can understand the criticism of it in that it sounds like smething out of Star Wars. That said, this theme should be used for some sporting event. It's too good to be left unused as it fits basically any sport as it emphasizes the three tone NBC id. Perhaps Football Night in America is another possibility.

@bakerandbaker1 Either one, I think this music is much better than their current music. I'm not a music expert by any means, but I like it because it seems to have a lot more emotion than the current SNF track.

Are you referring to the John Williams composition or the lyric sung by Faith Hill? I'll agree that the latter is a desperate attempt to copy Hank Williams MNF intros.

@bakerandbaker1 They shouldn't waste a great song like this on a terrible product like Notre Dame football. They should bring it back for their current SNF broadcasts, and get rid of that BS song they use now.

@Wolverine607 How about that Sugar Bowl win? And yeah, this is one of the best sports themes ever. Reminds me of the Lions clinching the playoffs by beating the Jets in '97, in the game when Barry Sanders went over 2000 yards for the year.
