Yééé. Finally the first prototype is out.
First, i summarize the design:
- Template from Imikewillrockyou
- Self-made alternator (9 coils awg18/100turns, 3 phases + 2 magnet disks of 12 magnets (N45, 30mm diameter, 10mm height cylinders) each)
- currently 8 blades (16 in the next iteration) made of moulding polymer material NMC LF5, cut into a wing shape profile)
- The rotor is floating on a self-made magnetic levitation bearing made of 2 disks with 8 magnets each (should be modified in the future to a different pattern, e.g. 8/5).

There is very little wind today, so i used a fan to try it out. I got a small 40 RPM out of a non-homogenous 9km/h blow. The turbine turned smoothly and generated DC 1.5V without load.

Not too bad for a start.

Here are the next steps:
- Paint the structure against rain and moisture
- Put a decent lid on top
- Add the extra 8 blades

  • @electrodacus: Yes, I am working on a bigger version. I am targeting a 1.5-2m diameter system, with wing cores (blue foam) with a high camber profile I have made that should give me a positive Lift/Drag ration for a big range of angles of attack, and a chord of approx 30cm.

    Mon problème est que je ne capte pas très bien quoi faire après mon rectifier ;o(

    il me semble qu il me faut une diode+ dump load+ charge controler+ inverter seulement je ne vois pas trop dans quel ordre monter tous ca ;o)

    aurais tu un bon plan ou un site utile sur le sujet? J ai vraiment pas envie de cramer un truc parceque j y comprend rien;o)  je commence a bloquer ;o(
