Good friend and banjo player Larry Mcneely and I idid this song together outside Grannys Antiques at Cecil Saunders Farmers Market in Carthage, NC June 1oth 2009
I lived above Larry in Nashville in 1968 when I was a student at Vanderbilt. He would sometimes ask if his practicing disturbed my studies. I said I'd WAY rather listen to him! The strangest duet I ever heard was Larry on banjo and allen Ginsberg on finger cymbals, when the Beat poet was in town for a poetry reading and he asked to be taken to the best picker in town. They took him to Larry.
Wonderful to see Larry McNeely again--and to hear him. A great banjo player, and don't forget that he was great on the harmonica with The Smoky Mountain Boys, backing Mr. Acuff.
Holy cow - THE Larry McNeely! I saw you on a Glen Campbell tour stop in St. Louis back in 1971. I play rhythm guitar in a big band most of the time, but I will learn "Bethe" on the 5-string before I die!

Tell Larry that I love "Alexander Freedom" to this day. He'll know what I mean.
