For the past 68 years, the New York University Annual Survey of American Law has dedicated a volume to a preeminent jurist, scholar, or legal practitioner. The issue features tributes to and scholarship on the dedicatees achievements and contributions to American law. Professor Miller is a leading expert in U.S. civil procedure. From 1972 until 2007 he was a professor at the Harvard Law School, and continues to teach law as a University Professor at New York University. He co-authored Civil Procedure, the widely used casebook, as well as Federal Practice and Procedure, a multi-volume treatise considered the major reference work on the federal courts for lawyers, judges, and law students in the United States. He was the "on air" legal expert for ABC's Good Morning America, Court TV, and host of a weekly television show titled Miller's Court.
