  • Sorry but I really need to hear whether it is ok or not in Islam if a woman preaches in public with men. is it? The answer will be accepted from a scholar or with a reference from the time of Prophet s.a.w., please.

  • @muhacir08 As'salaam wa'laykum, This is the answer Sister Yasmin Mogahed provided to your question:

During the time of Omar radiallahu anhu a woman stood up and "preached in front of men' and corrected Omar. And Omar radiallahu anhu said, "The woman is right and Omar has made a mistake.'

  • @fromAllah2u Salaam! Please refer to SeekersGuidance's fatwa on opposite gender interactions and the regulations that must be adhered to. Whether or not your Masjid did so, does not qualify as a legal fatwa on what is obligatory or not obligatory in opposite gender interactions such as in this lecture, but thank you for giving that as an example :). May Allah guide us all, and keep you and your family safe. Ameen.

  • @EnjoiningKnowlege i'm sure there is supposed to be some sort of barrier/curtain. it used to be like that at the masjid i used to go to.

  • @muhacir08 Women should teach males who are young enough to be her sons...and males in her class should lower their gaze.

  • @EnjoiningKnowlege- Alhamdulillah. Jazakhallah Khayr, and I ask Allah that the same be returned to yourself. Ameen.

  • @shebzydon May Allah (SWT) grant you great reward for your sincerity, and humility. Not many people openly admit their errors and accept that they made a mistake. You are a truly gifted person :)! Ameen.

  • @nounoubanadora Correcting in public is still a form of public speech, as is preaching. Are you of the view that this LEARNED sister should not be preaching to her audience? If so, from where have you derived this ruling?

  • @EnjoiningKnowlege- When I posted that comment, I was unaware of the situation regarding Umar (RA) and his sermon.

I hope Allah forgives me for my jahiliyah. You are right, I am wrong.

    Sorry :(

  • Essalamu 'alaykum

Your talk about Lady Assia is mashaa Allah, many thanks, I will inshaa Allah listen about Lady Mariyam

  • @redrak87

    Essalamu 'alaykum

Correcting is not preaching, the preach was given by Omar radia allahu 'anhu
