I think at this point he was a bit coked up and pretty unhappy at the lukewarm american reception he was getting after triumph in the UK. Not so much a pissed off punk as a pissed off ego.

This is from the tour with Mink and Nick opening. There were two shows at the Royal Oak. Early and late. After the 79 show at Masonic they did stop playing Elvis on the radio in Detroit. After the 79 show, the band went to Bookies afterwards and were absolute dicks. I met Elvis as he was wallking in and he was a pretenous son of a bitch. Friends who met other Attractions felt the exact same way.

Freaking brilliant! Elvis and the Attractions captured at what is probably the most powerful period of their careers. Note: Elvis produced The Specials first record - check out the sonic similarities on his first album and The Specials. The energy in this song is unbeatable and is a true testament to how great a musical force The Attractions are. There is nothing quite like this angry, pissed off punk extraordinaire either...
