Edgar Cayce and the Association
for Research and Enlightenment
(from Encyclopedia of Cults and New Religions, Harvest House, 1999)
INFO AT A GLANCE
Name: The Association for Research and Enlightenment (ARE) was founded in 1931 to
preserve, research and disseminate the psychic work of Edgar Cayce.
Founder: Edgar Cayce (1877-1945).
Source of authority: The trance readings of Edgar Cayces alleged unconscious mind.
These are often claimed to have originated from the akashic records, purportedly a
storehouse of universal knowledge which many occultists cite as a source of inspiration.
Claim: The revelations of Edgar Cayce represent one of the most significant psychic phenomena
of our time.
Occult dynamics: Spiritistic revelations and various occult practices, e.g., astrology.
Key literature: The Circulating Files (only ARE members can obtain the nearly 400 topically
arranged transcripts of the Cayce Trance readings); the ARE Journal and Newsletter;
New Millennium Journal; Venture Inward magazines; A Search for God (2 Vols.); The
Edgar Cayce Library (topically organized volumes of the Cayce readings—e.g., Vol. 6 is
The Early Christian Epoch); and the multi-volume Individual Reference File. These last
two are continually expanding.
Attitude toward Christianity: Rejecting.
Quote:
Q. How should we present the [Edgar Cayce] work to one in orthodox faith?
A. ... If they are satisfied in their own mire, or their own vomit, then do not disturb. (Edgar
Cayce Reading 254-87).
DOCTRINAL SUMMARY
God: A pantheistic, impersonal force.
Jesus: A man who attained Christ consciousness.
(The) Christ: A state of higher (occult) consciousness.
Trinity: Reinterpreted as e.g., Time, Space and Patience.
Man: Part of God.
Fall: The fall occurred in heaven, not on the earth, and man fell into matter, not sin. Matter
and spirit are opposed to one another. When preexisting spirits fell into matter they
lost their spiritual understanding and awareness of their divinity.
Sin: Error (e.g., not recognizing or appropriating ones deity). Sin is more a defect in
awareness than violation of a moral standard.
Salvation: Salvation is through knowledge, not faith, and involves the attainment of higher
consciousness and realization of ones divinity.
Satan: A symbol of evil.
Second coming: The subjective experience within each person of the internal coming of
the Christ
Bible: One of many holy books, interpreted symbolically.
Death: A spiritual advancement
Heaven and Hell: Inward states of consciousness or good or bad experiences in life.

John Ankerberg Discusses the Claims of Edgar Cayce and the Beliefs of the Association for Research and Enlightenment.

Edgar Cayce (March 18, 1877 -- January 3, 1945) was an American some repute as having had psychic abilities. He is claimed to have demonstrated an ability to channel answers to questions on subjects such as health, astrology, reincarnation, and Atlantis while in a self-induced trance. Although Cayce lived before the emergence of the New Age movement, he remains a major influence on its teachings.

Cayce became an American celebrity towards the end of his life and the publicity given to his prophecies has overshadowed what to him were usually considered the more important parts of his work such as healing (the vast majority of his readings were given for people who were sick) and theology (Cayce being a lifelong, devout member of the Disciples of Christ). Skeptics challenge that Cayce demonstrated psychic abilities and conventional Christians also question his unorthodox answers on religious matters (such as reincarnation and Akashic records). He may have been the source for the idea that California would fall into the Pacific ocean (though he never said exactly this).

Today there are tens of thousands of Cayce students. Most are located in the United States and Canada, but Edgar Cayce Centers are now found in 25 other countries. The Association for Research and Enlightenment (ARE), headquartered in Virginia Beach, is the major organization promoting interest in Cayce.

  • we need to abandon expired beliefs and silly titles. Christianity is flawed and incomplete concerning the ever expanding eternal entities that we are. when death comes a christian background only makes it more difficult to comprehend the depth and meaning that people having near death experiences have felt. lets face it, the bible is a group of teachings organized politically to achieve a form of control through fear and moral duties.

  • SO your conclusion is the whole of the law is "Do what though Wilt " for each individual ?

Each person defines thier own absolutes ?

DNA has Design Creation has a Creator. Creation and DNA has FLAWS JESUS had NO flaws and provided a way that are Fallen spiritual nature and ultimate destiny DEATH can be overcome.

  • Just because Cayce got some things right doesn't mean he's holy. And just because he got some things wrong doesn't mean he was taken over by demons. He was a guy. Got it?

    Hope you can get it.

Now that I'm on up in years I know from sad experience that turning on the porch light draws bugs. Before you play around with developing psychic powers you'd best figure out how good your window screens are.

  • been waitng for this discussion since I read about Mr.Cayce his readings are very interesting!!!

  • I assume everyone commenting on this video finds credibility in what Edgar Cayce said. I also believe he gave several accounts of what the afterlife holds. If you're curious, look it up; it might just enlighten you.

  • @chollo81 Christian or not it is definate that this life is over when its over and nobody knows for sure exactly what the next life holds. But just something you should know is don't be mad at Jesus because the people that follow him 2000 years later are messed up. All people are messed up and thats why we need a saviour. We all need Jesus even if it seems like the last thing you want. Jesus is Love. Humans run off of Love. We were created to need Love. Ask Love to come be your friend.

  • 5:45 Sounds like a demon spirit or antichrist spirit. Not an accusation just what my first thought is on that kind of stuff.

  • a "doctrine of demons" is what my bible calls this fellow!...un-godly and forbidden folks...You'll run from this satanic garbage if your wise

  • @younggunsdallas not true!

  • Can't stand Christians...they come up against everything...even themselves. Look at the different denominations of the Christian church fighting over stupid shit! They created evil and act on it and no little about their own religion...like "where was Jesus between up until he starting preaching at 30? What was he doing?? Being holy? Becoming the Christ? I'd rather eat shit than listen to "Christian know it alls"

  • @SKYSPLASH wow, u twist things like satan. not do what thou wilt, do the will of god, but ask to help, (free will) doesnt mean we are being rogue to gods will

  • @mreloo I dont even know what you are referencing, youre all over the place,,,nevertheless you must be right!!

Im not a protestant, you cant even remember that? Yet you still MUST be right, since youre you.

Ive never had the audacity to assume I have the right or the priviledge to enter heaven, however, whatever you think or say about that is right, as always.

Everything I said should be discounted since I assumed MrELoo = Mary Lou, perfect logic. God bless you on your journey.

  • @mreloo You know it all!! What can I say, everything Ive said youve found problems with or obfuscated, example, you made fun of me by saying I had "learned my info from my meditation group", which is a backhanded slap, making fun of me, and assuming I am in some new age type deal...You want to play semantics, fine. Youre right about everything, Im wrong, take care now.
