Rare and funny radio interview with Brian Wilson from 1967 to promote the Smiley Smile album which replaced the superior and unreleased Smile as the successor to the 1966' Pet Sounds.

  • the windows movie maker-type effects are comically nonsensical

kind of like, "brian wilson is interviewed while i apply inappropriate video effects"

  • Smiley Smile...my favorite Beach Boys album of all time..and the Windows moviemaker effects are MAHVELOUS!! Well done, sir!

  • @mfnpjparty I think Brian straightjacketed the BB sound with his domination of the whole thing. He should have let the others contribute and give them room. Maybe at this point they werent ready to take on more creative stuff but you never know what you're capable of until you have no choice. It was like ok were doing an album so Brian will write & arrange it all. Or maybe it was Brian say were doing an album and I will write & arrange it all. You can only do that for so long until you burn out.

  • I Think You'll Find It Interesting = WTF? (Confused Face) -____-

I Love This Strange Album :)

  • @pricha24 - Wilson and Staley = Apples and Oranges

  • @over18 it's astonishing, isn't it? I consider it a gift to have been alive during his time on earth. A true genius.

  • @Goeslightly Not according to Catch a Wave. He may have written the songs, but he spent a lot of time doing other things in his house (Like eating and sleeping). The entire group is credited with the production, as well.

  • @BucksStudent

He was totally involved with Smiley Smile. He produced it, wrote all of the songs on it, it was recorded at his studio,... he was as involved with Smiley Smile as he was with Pet Sounds.

  • @over18 I'll never understand why people are so quick to deny the other members of the band any credibility. Basically 90% of the Beach Boys output after the "Friends" album was entirely withOUT Brian involved, sans the "Love You" album. And during Brian's creative peak they toured constantly withOUT him. Mike Love, despite most people not wanting to admit it, helped Brian write dozens of songs in their early career. Carl and Al sang amazing lead vocals on several of their biggest songs.

  • Weird that Brian would be the representative for Smiley Smile, when he was barely involved.

  • Such an honest sweet and intense young man...he was the leader of The Beach Boys indeed, he was the Beach Boys at this time. Roll on the release of the Smile box set...A
