I'm not saying that we should throw out the whole bible. I'm saying that science and God are two things that cannot be mashed together.  In other words, don't try to look for answers in science in the bible, and don't look for faith in a textbook. Instead, think of religion as an inspiration, while science as....well...facts.

@shadeslay Not exactly. What I meant is that you cannot call the Bible false because they said "Man was made from dust". That was just the explaination of the day. Take maggots for example. Early beliefs were that maggots were spawned from thin air. This was later proven false; maggots were baby flies. However, people at the time believed in spontaneous creation simply because they had no other explaination. The same goes for evolution.

i think that if we all just stop attacking the slight differences in beliefs between denominations then we can focus on what is important, that god is here for all of those who will go towards him. this is a truly beautiful song that demonstrates the power of god.

I'd like to know where you got that information. Catholics and then I believe Baptists make up the largest part of the Christian population (in the US). That is unless you believe that Catholics are all going to hell. Pentecostal/Charismatic churches, respectfully, do not come anywhere near those numbers.
However, Jesus asks us not to quarrel over such things. How about we agree to meet at the Cross?

Sorry don't agree, miss swank, but you have a right to your opinion and assumptions. I will say this tho', turn your numbers around then it will be more accurate. "Fundies" are the largest part of the Christian population with the exception of Calif.

Evolution is such a farse and Darwin was nothing but a person who thought "what about this?" Even used God in his writings... truth... there is more to God's design than anything else. 85% of Christians are not fundamentalists. Fundies are a VERY small % of the Christian population. Most Christians fall somewhere between fundamentalism and liberalism. The Truth, well He falls somewhere in the middle.
I do not believe in the gap theory. I believe when God RE-formed the earth, He did it in six literal days. How old the earth was prior to the NEW creation, we shall never know on this planet.

The process of natural selection has caused the short hair cats to die out. The cats have changed and adapted to their environment. This is a highly simplified explanation of the basics of natural selection. The reason I say that this is the opposite of macroevolution is because while the organism has changed, it has not gained information. To get reptiles into birds would require a gain of information. But in the example, the cats LOST information, the recessive gene.
