Hmmm. Let's see.
The Expulsion forces used brute force, threats, intimidation, etc. The Settlers used love, singing, hugging, etc.
The Expulsion forces won.
The settlers lost their homes AND the nation's respect. I didn't hear a single Israeli say "I was for the expulsion, but I admire the settlers for not fighting the army."
In the real world, you cannot respect someone who won't fight for himself and his family.
No one in history ever defeated tyranny by singing kumbaya.

I would have refused an order as a soldier,
but would not start milkhamet akhim.
That's what these people feared - and I think they were right.
The REAL WAR is, has been and always will be - in the field of EDUCATION. Educate Israelis, young and old. Win over their hearts, and by that we would have Akhdoot and win big.
