    Is the 10 course lute suitable for baroque music?

    Ballard already is (early) baroque music. There is some more early baroque repertoire for this (Renaissance lute-) tuning, and a few high baroque lutenists use it (e.g. Zamboni 1718), but most 'real' baroque lute music is for 11- or 13-course baroque lute in d-minor tuning. Having said that, of course part of the repertoire can be arranged. See my Bach BWV999 for example, also on a lute in Renaissance tuning and perfectly playable on a 10-course lute.
