Michael Guerrara said he would see his next-door neighbor walking outside everyday.
His neighbor is John M. Connolly, the 88 year-old man who was shot outside his Fairmount Street home Wednesday.
"Sometimes I would shovel his driveway when it snowed," he said. "This is just so senseless."
Guerrara said he and his neighbor would often say "hi" to each other.
"Luckily he'll be ok," he said as he made repairs to the fence behind his home.
He said all the neighbors on Fairmount Avenue are usually friendly to each other.
"It's too close to home," he said.
But Guerrara said this event won't stop him from going about his daily routine.
"At that point they win," he said.
Residents of Galen Street agree that this violence won't interrupt their lives.
