This all-inclusive luxury resort on Jamaica's north coast has a tropical rainforest setting (replete with waterfalls), private beach and upscale facilities that appeal to both American and European guests and families.

The bright open-air lobby sets a warm tone, with iron chandeliers, marble floors and tall carved-wood columns lining the reception area. Rooms at the Riu Ocho Rios have cherry wood furnishings, Caribbean artwork, earth-toned fabrics and marble and tile floors. Guests staying in deluxe rooms and suites have additional amenities such as hydro-massage bathtubs, ocean views and access to select dining venues.

Dining options here include numerous places to grab a quick snack, including pizza and jerk chicken stations. Buffets are available for breakfast, lunch and dinner at the main dining area and for dinner only at the Asian-inspired Mandalay and Italian-themed Piccola Italia restaurants. For a la carte dining, Sir John or the Grill and Steakhouse are more upscale dining venues. Guests in deluxe rooms or suites have exclusive access to the resort's Japanese Tushima and gourmet Sir Richard restaurants.

In addition to a private beach, there are two large free-form swimming pools and a children's pool. Among the many activities included in the all-inclusive package are windsurfing, sailing, a scuba lesson in the pool, snorkeling, tennis and volleyball. There are children's programs for ages 4 through 12, as well as entertainment and evening shows for adults. A gym, sauna and Jacuzzi are included and, for an additional fee, guests can head to a nearby golf course or scuba dive. The resort's Renova Spa offers a full menu of massages, facials and beauty treatments for an extra fee.
