I've kind of been stumped on what to tell people if/when they ask me what I do. Sure I design websites, but there's a lot more to it than that obviously like SEO and developing databases.

I agree fully BUT even if we would like to start calling ourselves Webmasters it's not going to work because normal people (mostly plain) think of website as an design creation only so website makers will not risk and compromise using Web designer term on their websites in order to make the right webmaster term more popular.

Thank you for taking the time to talk to us and share your videos with your tutorials on webdesigning. I am the district webmaster of a school district and I think you sharing this information will one day help me in my designing adventure. I also one day want to start my own webdesigning buisness and website.

@amaz1ngenius You probably already grabbed one but hopefully this helps others with the same question. Money's tight, as Michael said don't spend $400 on a laptop and keep having to buy a new one when it breaks. Just get the one that you NEED the first time. Web Design isn't just Dreamweaver. It's Photoshop, Ai, Flash, InDesign, Fw, etc. So get something that's made for it. In 3 years my two PC's have been fixed total 5 times, my MBP 13" in over a year, not once, and I ABUSE this thing :)

I have also been trying to become a 'webmaster' only to find out that there is so much to learn. I wonder that if you try to do and know a bit of everything you will never really be great at one thing, am I right?

I agree that theres more to web design than good looks, loading time, funcianality, ease of use etc :D Thanks for tellng the 3 thigs compaies need, never thouht of it before....

So should i put web-designer on my business card?
What is a good laptop for this since the school requires you to have one in class?

@amaz1ngenius Any 15" or 17" laptop will do. Just not the small netbooks. The cheaper PC laptops that run around $400 bucks will last you about 2 yrs. The more expensive Mac's ($1000) will prob last a little longer.

This is such another good video, and I agree with you totally... so I'll be looking through all the other videos you have... lol. Anyway.. know anything, or planning a tutorial on Joomla!? I'm just looking at it, as I have been handed a purchased template to edit for someone.....

Thanks Andy, I haven't worked with Joomla to be honest, but I have worked with Wordpress as a CMS. But yes, I do plan on getting around to a tutorial on these two in the near future. :)

Excellent video mate, I am so interested in Web Design and would love to have the ability to perform this particular art. At the minute I am reading a few books on Web Design one of which is learning about Dreamweaver. My aim is to hopefully one day launch my own web site however I am not willing to do this until I am confident with web design and all the other things that make web design. Awesome video with some excellent advice.
