The point of a cover isn't to try to "do it better," rather, it's to lend a new voice to the work of another artist. I think Mumford & Sons and Jerry Douglas have done exactly that-this song is excellent! I hope they can do more of this in the future!

Classic wannabe-hipster who besmirches the name of true indie music by being disgustingly pretentious, ageist, ableist, and hateful. They're allowed to have their opinion and, to be honest, I half agree with them. This is not nearly as good as I believe they could have made it. Just because you like this song (which is fine too) doesn't mean you can jump down their throat, "accusing" them of liking modern pop music (and by the way, who are you to decide all modern pop music is trash?).

Yes, it is, and that's how I spelled it. I never said Mumford & Sons isn't a good band, but they're not reviving any kind of endangered cultural tradition. I fail to see your point.

speaking of pretentiousness, it's spelled "have." This is a great cover and continues a tradition that might have been lost by a new generation without mumford.

I recently went on a trip to Montreal, and I listened to this song every night, I now listen to it, and memories of my trip fill my head, the feeling is so blissful, I get shivers. I love this song, and the original as well, I would just like to thank both Mumford and Sons, and Simon and Garfunkel, you made me much happier than I would be without this song.
