  • That's the interesting thing about Aspergers: It's highly individual! There are many commonalities, but yet many differences. My Aspie son has never been neurotic about every single thing being in a certain place, he has friends, and has an amazing sense of humor and laughs his head off at books and tv. But the tantrums, the hyper-sensitivities, the brilliance without well-roundedness, the athletic clumsiness (but has become quite skilled at baseball due to excellent & persistent coaching).

  • Not everybody with asperger's is like you.

To be fair I also have aspergers- that's been psychologically proven- and I am involved with acting, and am training to become a teacher, as of after I have done my Philosophy and Law Degree and such.

There are varying levels of aspeger syndrome.

  • @zenangel924 Okay. I understand.

  • @ax3b ...of course who knows how well a person achieves with their coping method. The first time I had to speak publicly, I was horrified. I memorized what I wanted to say, then I stood up, made zero eye contact with the audience, and repeated it on auto-pilot while being totally absent from the horrific experience.

  • @zenangel924 I don't know what 'friends' you are referring to, however if you mean to suggest that I have harassed anyone, then you have clearly, egregiously misinterpreted my comment, if you understood it at all. What I expressed was that none of the things the maker of this video has expressed are necessarily certain. They are 'stereotypical' They are frequently true, perhaps, but not a rule. I have seen aspies be social, speak publicly, etc., myself included. People cope with tasks.

  • @zenangel924 What are you trying to say. I can't understand the emphasis on your comment. Are you commenting to me, or are you commenting about me?

  • Also, saying that you do not "see them as 'A.S.' " suggests that you can tell definitively that they do not. Psychiatry is not an exacting science. You may have been misdiagnosed. Someone who is well-read and precise could offer a better diagnosis than a professional who is not as intelligent or insightful, or who fails to use the correct diagnostic tools. It seems likely that the more creative a person is, the less likely you can tell.

  • I think what you have described as characteristic of persons with Asperger's Syndrome are stereotypical. It suggests, as well, that those with the syndrome cannot learn on their own to engage in the activities that others do. Some people have more difficulty, others cope or normalize with various success.

  • Not entirely true. Aspergers simply means you are autistic but NOT retarded.
