"Emily" ( sung by Merrill Osmond & one of his best vocals ) is taken from The Osmonds album ( minus Donny )...."Steppin Out" from 1979 & was the 1st single released from "Steppin Out"......
The "Steppin Out" album was produced by the late Maurice Gibb from The BeeGees & "Emily" was recorded in Miami Fla., & featured some of Miami's top musicians ( Foxy,,KC & The Sunshine Band,,Miami Sound Machine ....) on the album & song.......
I remember reading an interview in 1979 with Maurice Gibb & he was soooooooo excited about the "Steppin Out" album that he played the entire album for the interviewer.....
Theres not a weak song on the "Steppin Out" album & shouldve put the Osmonds back on the charts, but, sadly their new label.....Mercury Records just wasnt behind the album.....
Great song, beautiful adult-contemporary pop! Thanks for the upload. I've always thought the Osmonds were much better as a group than as Donny's "backup band," and I think it's unfortunate that Donny got so much more attention as a solo artist. I feel the same about Michael Jackson and the Jackson Five – they could have and should have remained together. I know that's a minority opinion ...
