The magical year of 1972 brought us this obscurity from the city of Chicago (note the similarity to the group, Chicago), which hit number one in odd places like Japan. It did chart on Billboard and was played on none other than Metromedia's flag station, WIP in Philly.

  • It's been a long time since I heard this tune -- sounds great. I'm from Chicago and recall this song dominating the air waves back in the day. I can't seem to find it avail. via MP3... any ideas?

  • @usmad30 Dominating the airwaves? That just goes to show how airplay varied regionally. Here in Philly it was played for a short time on WIP (a middle of the road station) and then disappeared forever.

  • My two years little daughter loves this song.

Everyday she beg me switch on the PC and play and sing "Summer sun" song.

    Thank you very much MrTrashcan1.

This video is very special for us.

    She enjoys your photographs too.

    Greetings.

  • @pablitolunatico

  • Oh God, I totally forgot about this song. Until last night, as some of us baby boomer-aged Hawaii guys were playing guitar and singing at Bellows Beach Park (Waimanalo). One guy busted out this song. Then we all remembered--this song played A LOT on the Hawaii airwaves in the early '70s.

    GREAT song. Mahalo for positing!

  • great song .It make me happy. I need the chords please .I want to remember those wonderfull years.

  • They are from Downers Grove IL and used to play at the mixers and Youth Centers. Does anyone remember their song that made a big hit that goes: "All Summer long we spent dancin' in the sand, and the jukebox kept on playin', Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts' Club Band?!"

  • Who remembers dancing to the Massacre in high school. I loved their orange colored amps and speakers.
