Many new Macbook Pro Core i5s and i7s having been suffering from random system freezes.

I have had mine for almost 3 weeks and have had 14 sudden complete system failures. Usually my screen cascades to grey and a window appears telling me to hold down the power button and do a force restart.

This one was a little different. Mail had stopped responding so I attempted a force-quit at which point the system crashed, while playing a looped audio blip over and over.

  • I hope I don't have to have the logic board swapped out. I wonder what is causing all of this? It's obviously effecting tons of people and is not acceptable.

  • get a pc

  • Lol.. I smell Macista =D (Mac Vista)

  • I just bought a 1600$ mbp and 1st day of having it this started up now i can't return it till the long weekend is over. Many people have suggested it to be the kernel not being 10.6.4 but mine already is. My mbp does not over heat. Waiting 15 minutes does not make it go away. Better yet apple has not come out with a fix.

  • This problem with the 2010 MacBook Pro models is exactly what's been keeping me from buying a 17" i7. Glad I caught the threads on macrumors and apples discussion board.

  • I hope Apple solves this issue. This is occuring with my 13 inch Macbook Pro, just 5 days after purchase.

  • when did you guys buy these models?

  • yeah.. i also subscibe to the thread, but no fix until today.. what took them so long..

  • It has happened to me three times in the past 3 weeks... All in windows though and completely random... Just browsing the internet or something. I can play Crysis fine but not this apparently... I REALLY hope its just a driver issue and that an update is on the way.
