why must abu dhabi play shitty american music.
-
@electronikita Damn, is it really that cold up there?
-
@jeremiad86 Damn straight! Even during 3 warm month you have to wear a jacket at night
-
love the cross choke transition to the back but still, could you pick a gayer song to use on this video?
-
@pcjudosambo and then get submitted

most people that train bjj appreciate the different technical aspects of the game allowed by wearing a gi. it allows you to see a lot of different angles and techniques that translate to no gi and even mma. i won't train at a school that only offers no gi.

@WisdomValleser well, first of, not true ... depends on the judoka. I've seen plenty of judokas submit higher belt bjj guys then again, i've seen low level bjj guys submit higher judoka guys. The door swings both ways. Watch this video of a blue belt judoka submitting bjj guys of same level:

But I do still think that if you remove "pull guard" form BJJ competitions, their standup would increase dramatically within 6 months. Currently, only a few good bjj guys know standup.

@pcjudosambo yeah.. but once in the ground, no matter what position, the blue belt judoka is gonna get killed. haha

It looks like the royal family of Abu Dhabi is really into grappling these days. Now Abu Dhabi has the largest jiujitsu and submission grappling event in the world. Well it's always nice to be rich and powerful Hahahaha..

@wjat89 personally, I think BJJ guys are the best submission artists in the world but they really lack the standing phase of grappling. I saw many old documentaries of Helio Gracie and the way he fought was day and night (compared to modern BJJ guys). Helio stood up and grappled with world class judokas and wrestlers. He didn't pull guard (based on the videos I've seen). I know BJJ guys love this technique but I think Frank Mir is right when he said that BJJ guys have lost their standup touch.

i think this is the worst music to compete with

For some of us in colder climates training with a Gi is definitely functional in the street, we wear jackets 8 months out of the year hear in northern Ohio.
