  • mine had the k03 turbo, not sure if the flutter is just on engines with this turbo but my mates golf was a 2001 with k03s and his did it too. Mine had 78k wich is relatively low too.

  • what CAI did u use? cuz i love that sound.. and putting a BOV or aftermarket DV is stupid.

  • A £55 one with Aluminium pipe to behind the bumper off ebay...Worked a treat. They all do the same job and make the same sound. Plus the Ali was polished and shiny!

    I bought a black Vectra B SRi DTI '02 model. For the cheaper insurance and MPG. I put Veg oil and diesel mixed 50/50 in it and it saves me £12 a tank.

  • @twiggy99 The AGU 20vt engine has the biggest ports of all the 20vt range so with a k04 on it's ideal for big power

  • To the guys asking about the CAI get a pipe of ebay (about £15) and by a 'quickshift' cone filter, the ones made from steel wire, it sounds fooking mint.

    For the guys going on about 'dump valves' these cars run divert valves so what ever your trying to chat about it not working ect is wrong.

    Not sure about the echo though? Mine dosn't do it, just gives a clean blow-off sound.

    I have heard people mention its turbo flutter, could be different on the 1.8t set-ups though.

  • The 1.8t engine in the Golf is poor compared to the other 1.8t range (TT, A3 sport, cupra R even the VRS) but..........

    I have seen these engine running close to 320BHP on standard internals, which is not far behind most of the more powerful jap cars on the road and with a bit of work I have seen them pushing 600BHP+ (there are a few around on the show seen).

    I can tell what you mean about the engine being over worked, but the Japs can't come close on quailty of the VW. Just my two pence.

    You can't put a dump valve on it you can how ever put a divert valve.
