For our Iranian brothers and sisters who fought and fell for their freedom and the authority of the people's vote on June 13, 2009. The world is watching...
"You have the right to free speech...... As long as you're not dumb enough to actually try it" As true today as it was when they wrote this song! Take heed.
@gunner1488 I recall Chinese students in Hong Kong played this very song during demonstrations after the Tienanmen protests were crushed. Joe Strummer and Mick Jones's songs and lyrics were frequently inspired by people fighting for their basic rights, and have in turn inspired and given encouragement to similar struggles around the world. Anyone engaged in such struggles is free to interpret the Clash's songs to fit their own circumstances. That's the beauty of great political art.
can we please not get personal with our politics and just enjoy a fucking good song that so encapsulates the whole spectrum; not just YOUR own politics. You might find I'm in your camp here but not when I listen to The Clash.

Know your rights in the United States.
The Second Amendment says that you have the right to bear arms.
It's too bad that the people of Iran don't have the same freedom. If they did they would not be fighting their government using sticks and stones.
This is why our founders felt it necessary for the people to have the right to bear arms. It's a deterrent against an oppressive and brutal government.
