Hello all!

So, I sold my Vox Valvetronix to get a real tube amp. I fell in love with the Crate V16 at the local Guitar Center, and traded in my Vox in a heartbeat. Here's my demo of the different kinds of stock (mostly) sounds you get with the Palomino V16 amplifier.

  • so the tube amp sounds good with pedals?

  • It sounds good with OD pedals and such. Modulation effects (chorus, delay, etc.) will not sound good with this amp unless you decide to play clean - there is no FX loop. Found that out the hard way.

  • Hey, how do you get that overdriven sound without the hissy treble sound in the high end? I have a Palomino V32 and I play with an Ibanez JS1200. Even with the treble low and the bass high I get a hissy sound that makes the overdrive sound like artificial digital stuff. Any suggestions?

    Thanks!

  • Um, I don't know. Sorry!

  • does anyone know if crate still makes the palomino amps? i love the look of them, much better than the black. Just wondering if I would have to buy a used one, I would much prefer a new one

  • No, they replaced them with the black series. I think Musician's Friend might have just gotten some Palominos in as returns, though, so check there.

  • @insainmusician You really have to drive the tubes.... It needs to be cranked.... so a v32 is going to be very loud to get the overdriven tone.... if your using in the house it will make things vibrate.... this video is a V16 so it can be overdriven at lower volume

    hope this helps

  • wow its awesome

  • I have this amp and it rips-

    Made in the USA

Groove Tubes (changing em to JJ's very soon)

    Creamy smooth bluesy sound

Best Crate there is, all the new ones are now made in Asia

  • i have this exact amp and it makes me rock out with my cock out!!! how is it with pedals hwaug2? also, have you changed the tubes in it yet, and if so how did it work out? i heard you don't have to bias the tubes at all...thanks...andy

  • So after 3 years, how has the amp held up? Was the amp stock during this demo or was there a tube change?

Have you changed the tubes and if so, how did it affect the tone?

    Nice demo, thx!

  • @insainmusician Ceramic humbucking pickups? That would answer that.

  • @insainmusician A lot of it has to do with the guitar you're using.

  • @VHOBSESSED78 Line 6 aren't bad. I mean there nowhere close to anything tube. But for a beginning guitarist there great.

  • @TheSchoolsux345 It is a single coil pickup wound like that of a humbucker, but still the size of a single coil and technically still a single coil. Look up symour duncan hot rails.
