deer eating a bird

This buck doesn't know he is supposed to be a vegetarian! Birds were flying in and running into the head of this young buck in our front yard. I was watching through the window, and I did'nt know why the birds were attacking him. Then, I saw the little bird on the ground. The other birds had only been trying to distract the deer. I decided not to exchange the audio with music because when I played the video back, I realized my overly dramatic reaction was funny. Yes, I know I have a country accent. @TMHproductionz How is being surprised at a deer, a supposed herbivore, eating bird equivalent to being ignorant? Do European deer eat birds regularly? You need to get the fuck off your high horse. Im sure that little bird fell out of it's nest which is why the other birds kept flying down. And that is the first time ive seen a deer eat a bird but I dont put it past them! Should of arrowed that yearling and made some nice backstraps...

Animals aren't really fussed with what groups we put them in. Dogs will eat grass, bears will eat fruits, frogs will eat each other, mice will eat bugs, and apparently deer will eat birds.

Deer can't digest meat, but when they run low on minerals (like on the Scottish island of Rum), they'll sometimes eat the bones and legs of live chick.

Just goes to show that just because an animal's not a predator doesn't mean it can't be a killer. Another case in point: Hippos are the deadliest animal in Africa in terms of human deaths.
