I saw this interview, She asked Nixon if he'd ever been close to a breakdown! And why are you so remote and hard to know, just the sort of questions anyone would be confounded by! When he asked her to be serious she said she was being very serious! He smiled, embarrased and said, I know you're serious, but don't overdo it.
I think that she meant to say that she had asked Nixon, "Mr. President, are you sorry that you didn't burn the tapes?"
And Nixon said, "Yes," gave her a cookie and she went away.
