Fingertips - original song alternate

Since I am keeping things simple for a while until the recording equipment is acquired and set up, I thought it would be fun to upload an alternate version of an original already on youtube.

I owe two people for the inspiration for this version. The first is Adellana (LadyWeaver) who made a remarkable cover of this and gave me a better feel for the vocal line. She is probably one of the 5 best female artists on youtube so please give her channel a look-see.

The other person is my buddy mytosis. He said "Fingertips" would sound cool with more of a Ben Harper touch. So, like any Ben Harper-esque creation, I started by tuning the guitar down a bunch and breaking out the low vocal range. After trying out that style, I concurred that it adds a very enjoyable dimension.

Possible interpretations of "Fingertips" include taking the risk of offering yourself fully to a love interest, surrendering wholly to a higher power or even coming to terms with your own faults and accepting yourself as an imperfect being. All three have been (and continue to be) major struggles for me.

Hmm, I've listened to both versions now. This one sounds like it's in a more comfortable vocal range for you. Sounds better, in my ears.

I can picture this song with harmonies and added instruments,it would be like a Beach Boys classic from the late 60's. Beautiful songwriting my buddy Justin. I loved it! The lyrics especially are very well thought out and put together. :)) Nice and simple version here with just acoustic is always nice but this one would sound better fully dressed with harmonies and all! It's a great song! Nice soft singing on it too! You rock my bro! All the many stars! :))
