u know it is protection when u run the flat iron through and cant smell burning hair. when u use a heat protectant and run the flat iron through, it would steam or smoke. its the heat protectant burning instead of ur hair. btw, if u only use heat 1 a month, what do u do? i use heat 1 a week. with lots of heat protectant tho.

The way you know if your heat protectant is good is by spreading a dime size amount of your heat protectant on your arm and then place your blow dryer on high run it over your arm. If your heat protectant is good than your arm should not burn...if your arm burns its not really protecting you hair
