"I wouldn't be standing here because I wouldn't have this job if it wasn't for the CE/CW program," says IBEW Journeyman Wireman Kevin Kingsbury on site of a $2.3 million solar project in California's Orange County. The IBEW's recovery program -- which includes the use of alternative job classifications -- has allowed Santa Ana Local 441 to crack new building markets and put more than 200 journeymen wiremen back to work. "You're sitting at home, wanting to go back to work," says IBEW journeyman Robert Colmenero. "These CW/CEs enable me and others to go back to work.
Show us you believe in shared sacrifice by taking paycuts at the IO level. I'm sorry but $375,000 in total compensation in 2010 during these tough economic times seems excessive. How could the IO possibly understand the plight of their members with such excessive salaries? I think the IO needs to have salaries that are more in line with what their average members earn so they can live in the same reality their members live in.
