I think Jerold Immel won an Emmy for this version of the theme, it also happens to be my favorite version, with the pilot version being second.

I love listening to each season's opening to hear what Jerold Immel had changed each year! In this one, I love that he removed the normal riffs and throws in the electric bass sound at about 0.10. Also LOVE the egg shaker throughout as well as the seemingly random short piano chords!

You're right.In the original broadcast,the mini series was a mini series,but in the DVD Boxsets its classed as season 1 and Season 2 is the originally broadcasted season 1.These are boxed together.Season 3 which was the originally broadcasted Season 2,is the ''JR gets shot season'',and the originally broadcasted Season three,which is the DVD Season 4,is the ''JR's shooter is revealed season''.

true, and it seems as the melody never changes just the trend of the current sounds are incorporated, like guitars and horns of late 70's, deep bass of 80's and the synthesisers of late 80's 90's.
