Mosquito Larva attempting to Pentrate Oil Layer

This is a common technique that is used a mesquite control. A thin layer of oil(in this case vegetable oil) is placed over the body of water holding the mosquito larva. The larva cannot reach the surface to breath and suffocate.

Note: I did not like doing this. I actually felt bad for the larva as I did this. I did not find any enjoyment in doing this and uploaded it for educational purposes.I would also like to note the this is still more humane than poring them out to dry, or spraying them with pesticides.
