The National Liberation Front (NLF) was a coalition of peasants from central to southern Viet Nam who were against the Sai Gon regime. As Ngo Dinh Diem's horrible oppressive and sadistic regime became in operation people were fleeing left to right escaping the corruption and violence of "his state". People joined the National Liberation Front for one sole purpose, to liberate and free Viet Nam from American's puppet regime.

The NLF was the most effective penetration for America's military. They were considered an "invisible" enemy. NLF could look like a civilian but could also be from the coalition.

The NLF had many duties they were making traps, stealing intelligence and ambushing American camps at night executing anything that moves. The NLF were simple peasants trained to be heroes.

American soldiers became extremely paranoid and scared throughout the war. They started infiltrating villages and beating up young-old civilians forcing them to admit that they are from NLF, when they are holding a village they would have couple of men stay up at night making sure that if ANYTHING moves, it is to be shot DEAD.

Ngo Dinh Diem also became extremely paranoid that he executed at least 1 person a day accusing them of being a NLF. He also took this situation to his advantage by executing monks who he was also extremely prejudice towards.

The heart of independence relies on the people. These brave men and women were ready to give up their lives for a better Viet Nam, these heroes shall be remembered throughout history and around the world. Even admired by their enemy they have made a difference in people's lives and set an example for the world that America cannot bribe a whole country to go against itself.

  • I think you need to be more open minded. I think that you're "defending" the wrong side. My parents were villagers they were isolated and was cut off from our capital Saigon after Ngo Dinh Diem and left to starve. The ARVN would also come to our hamlets occasionally then questioned a lot of people and slowly they would kill one by one. We had no arms we were simple farmers. I wasn't born then but that was my mother childhood story. That is why I dispise the ARVN flag! search Agent Orange.

  • I'm an AMERICAN who applauds the NLF. Because I support the poor, the insulted and abused. I side with the modest, especially those who will stand up when attacked, and fight back against brutality.

Naturally, I am ashamed of what my country did in that sinful, brutal war.

There are plenty of others like me. Before I was born, when our reactionary leaders, in service to our corporate class, waged that nightmarish war, some fought openly in the streets with the police to end it.

  • Ngo Dinh Diem made a deal with the Devil and the Devil took his soul.

  • great repect for the bravery and cleverness of the "Viet Cong" (NLF).

a great video to show this.

  • Video nay, that la tuyet voi. Cam on dong chi VNTIGER !

  • this video is a great tribute

  • Diem did more to destabilize vietnam than stabalize it.

  • WTF are you talking about "WORST THAN COMMUNISTS"? I don't remember hearing about any "communist" coming into our village killing people for no reason. ARVN dispose of Diem? Are you sure? Man where do you get this information because they are so bias! America ordered Diems assassination because he couldn't keep the religion and civilian protesters under control which was destroying South Viet Nam's moral. South Viet Nam was an illegally made state which violated the Geneva Convention.

  • I think you need to be more open minded yourself. They're strategic hamlet campaign was a mess, I give you that, but are you honestly saying that they were worst than the Communists? You talk about Agent Orange, but at the time, it wasn't a known carcinogen. The ARVN itself was the one who disposed of Diem!

  • I never said he wasn't genius! I'm saying he was backed into a corner because the Buddhists were siding with the Communists, but in the meantime, the Kennedy administration was telling him to not retaliate against them. He was pushed into a corner by his own "ally."

Terrible thing the French did there.

  • What are you talking about? Diem was a catholic loyalist! He despised any other religions. Viet Nam was a Buddhist country before French invasion. Most of the population is Buddhist, he could've negotiate with them to join his cause. You should watch documentary sometime and learn before you speak man. No one ever said north Viet Nam was rich and wealthy and how from just recovering French occupant. South wasn't better off either French returned after WII and stole all the rice from Viet people.
