Thank you, Doug. Exquisite! May
-
Pure brilliant singing unlike thte noise heard in the world of opera today
-
C'est juste en ce qui concerne Tetrazzini et la vie en general.
-
That soaring, easy, vaulting Marchesi head voice! It really shows the difference between singing and selling fish.
-
Point noble qui veult, mais qui peult!
-
And Tetrazzini recorded a show-off version, still beautiful though, in which she interpolates high notes at the end and phrases idiosyncratically.
-
A beautiful version. With Alda, none of the notes are yelled. An exquisitely placed high b in the middle!! Another bel canto version, with a lighter voice, is sung by Alma Gluck.

This is a beautiful performance.
Thanks-John

I fell in love with this aria since i heard it sung by Mirella Freni in the movie Carmen. Freni was very good but I was eager to listen to more authentic version sung by a bel canto master of the past. I knew that Frances Alda recorded this. And it's completely perfect, better than i could imagine! You made me so happy today - I can't walk, I'm soaring in the air!
