@baneofzakhaev There's enough flexibility in the architecture to retain the kernel and driver architecture which there's the largest chance to get working properly, and the API set which is needed by software independent of that.
Also NT4 and NT5 aren't that different, you could often reuse NT4 drivers on NT5 by writing an .inf file for them. NT5.0 is Windows 2000, NT 5.1 is Windows XP, which should tell you how much difference there is between those: not a lot.

@Frank2029 It's a free alternative. Stop being a party pooper.

@Frank2029 It's not concern of yours, m8.

YIKES! Too much time on your hands....

@Frank2029 >>Why would anyone want this broken OS?
For fun?

Why would anyone want this broken OS? If you want a windows environment then get windows... look at all the waste of time you put into this. Your "alpha" stage OS has crashed more times in a 5 minute video then Windows 7 on my machine. Actually, it never has crashed...

@231karl Yes, I'm sure it is, why wouldn't it be?

@baneofzakhaev Apology accepted. Agreed on developing based off of XP would be more difficult, but it will have to progress to it or better past it to more recent releases of windows. Though I don't see how they will be able to ReactOS to par without a larger workforce, ReactOS maybe doomed for failure with windows development far outpacing theirs, which is highly unfortunate considering how much work has been put into it, but time will tell I suppose.

"Thats why we use Linux" haha
I remember reading that it is possible to run reactos with ibm's freedos kernel, that might actually be interresting.
