I have been living low carb for over 16 months and I have been stalled for 7 months. I have finally found something that has helped me break my stall. My starting weight in June 2009 was 165lbs and now I weigh 133lbs!!! My goal is to get into the 120's. Watch to find out how I broke my 7 month stall!   • Congratulations, that is awesome. I am trying to lose weight i have gained back after losing from two years ago. I have chosen to do it the low carb way. What kind of doctor did you see for the metformin and was it the same doctor who prescribed the hcg. I am also hypothyroid and i too think it is getting in the way of my weight loss no matter how hard i try.

  • @tangirl1122 Thanks! :-) I've been going to my doctor for 5 years for my hypothyroidism treatment. I've been taking armour thyroid for 5 years and recently metformin. I really think the combination of the metformin with the HCG Diet helped kick my body back into weight loss mode. I went to another doctor for the HCG Injections. I would recommend having your doc check your insulin levels to see if they are elevated. If your insulin levels are elevated, you might do well on metformin.

  • How did you get used to giving yourself a shot?

  • The HCG diet doesn't work. I mean, it's not the HCG, it's the 500 kcals per day. HCG studies show no difference between HCG and placebo. So basically it means you can get the same results by injecting saline water.

    Maybe HCG is confused with HGH, human growth hormone. HGH does act on fat tissue to make us lean, but not HCG.

    500 kcals/day is a semi-starvation diet. The HCG has nothing to do with it.

    Still, congratulations on your success, Lindsay.

  • Too bad people are so skeptical about HCG. Anyone who understands the female body and how pregnancy works...or is willing to do a tiny bit of research on the hormone, would understand that we are not living on 500 calories while on HCG. We are livinh on the 2,000 to 4,000 calories that the hormone is liberating from our abnormal fat stores! Their loss I guess! -Gayle, 220 lbs to 140 lbs all on HCG and completely healthy!!

  • according to dr.Ray Peat Low Carb= Death of Metabolism.. reason is that We must eat digestable carbs like squashes,fruits or white sugar and AVOID undigetable ones like grains,beans,greens,salads and also stay far fron nuts,seeds and ANY pure liquid vegetable oils.. we gotta support thyroid/liver to convert t4 to active T3.. all the best!!

  • Have you tried intermittent fasting? I currently eat twice a day.

    Once about an hour after I wake up (7am), typically some no-sugar added pork sausage,bacon, and eggs cooked in butter. Est. about 500 calories.

    Then I work until later afternoon/early evening and have a dinner. I cook some choice of chicken or pork and add vegetables in a pan fry. Cooked in butter (add bacon for flavor and better cooking results). Typically 800 or so calories.

    If I'm still hungry I'll have more eggs.

  • Good Job with your low carb diet!

  • Out of interest do you do any cardio when trying losing weight? 500 calories is not a lot of food!
