  • I LOLd.

Dude, most Western Atheists and Skeptics SUPPORT Ultra-Conservarive Islam

Look Atheists and Liberals like George Galloway. He supported the Regime of Saddam Husein, Qadafi and Iranian Theocracy

  • @AntifaSwedenx It might appear that way, however it is not that cut and dry. Our constitution forbids state impingement on religious liberty. We defend religious freedom, an aim which ultimately benefits Atheists also. That means a neutral official position toward religious groups. I gather you're referencing the ground zero mosque defense? I've actually never heard of George Galloway, I looked him up, he's an ass hat. We have been highly critical of Islam and religio-fascists of all kinds.

  • Russia and China were atheist- millions died in concentration camps. Inhumanity is not confined to religion.

  • @Rashnak66 Yes, you are correct. The state was worshiped instead. It so happens that Russia and China are also hyper-conservative countries. North Korean worship consists of praying to the dictators dead father.

The point is, much of this irrational harm stems from religion. I am not saying that there are not other causes of tyranny, I am simply pointing out the worst one.

Atheism is never the direct cause of violence. Religion, conservatism, and greed perhaps but not rationalism.

  • @matcotech You paint with a wide brush, which naturally leaves out the details. 'Irrational harm' has been done by the pious and sinner alike. Perhaps you can define good/evil using non-religious morality, I can't.

How exactly does one formulate what comprises 'irrational harm' without the moral basis provided by the religious tradition we inherited?

  • I am not religious at all but fuck i hate extremists on both sides. No one gives a shit about your opinion on religion.

  • your Atheist cause you have pride in yourself , you think what your doing is right and what others are doing is wrong ... isnt it ?

  • @STorpedo haha, you know I stumbled across this song when I discovered the Metalocalypse a little while ago.

  • @killerbandit dethklok, murmaider

  • @killerbandit I have to say...if you like metal, you and the author are ones to talk; metal shows are consistently as crazy, if not crazier. Not that the fans think that they're possessed, or whatever the Christians feel at their sermons, but this may make the behavior even more strange.

  • @matcotech This alone should muddy the waters sufficiently to warrant a more detailed analysis, rather than an outright declaration.

Also, Atheism can be a direct cause of violence. There are many situations where the absence of a religion that you would subscribe to means that you will be more likely to cause violence (whether because of an absence of morals, or a presence of a moral code, through utilitarianism).

  • @matcotech I would not be so smug as to pretend that I can point out the worst cause of tyranny. Perhaps it is religion, perhaps not. Religion is often used for justification of actions that would've been conducted anyways, because they were opted for for non-religious reasons; superficially, these actions can be seen as the result of religion, however this isn't automatically the case.
