Note the touchdown of the hoof capsule and when the bulbs leave the ground.

  • just shows how much the hoof takes the shock!! the bulbs and frog!! (: well done, great slow-mo vids!

  • great video! though I think it could show even more if the foot had better developed heelcushion. Has this horse always been unshod? feet look a tad contracted, but it could be the breed...

  • Can someone explain what this shows and what the relevance is?

  • Moving 20 miles in a day isnt athletic? They work harder than our pet horses do and their feet hold up better than our horses do.

  • I've had my horses shod for years...but then my husbands horse lost a shoe from hind foot, & was laid up for 2 mo. recovering. We found the shoe in the pasture bent in a spiral. There had been no overhang, shoe wasn't loose, couldn't find anything he could catch it on. Decided that was too close for comfort...they are now ALL barefoot & we love it & they're doing GREAT! On year 2, not sore, still sound, no abcesses, will never go back to shoes.

  • haha! I have two shoeless horses and they are living and being used on hard ground/rocks. They are never sore! A barefoot horse needs to be used on hard ground so that the hoofmecanism is working. Im not going to take away my horses... And NEVER going to shoe them!

  • yeah. because they are being worked as athletes. right?

  • Whoa thats really cool
