What a bunch of rubbish..... I've been playing the blues for 35 years, I'm American, and Rory Gallagher is my favorite entertainer of all time. Period. I don't give a damn where he's from, people know pain from all over the world. I hate stupid contentious arguments like this one. Just enjoy Rory, and Peter Green, for what they are. Damn fine musicians who played their souls for you to see.

The Blues was shaped, formed and raised by American Black musicians. To say otherwise is just ridiculous. The Blues is high art, and just like painting any 3yr old can do it. But, it's not just about notes. Most play "Blues" songs totally disconnected from the heart, with the soul of it watered down almost beyond recognition. Rory was one of FEW Europeans who understood that to be a great master, you have to know your history, know your instrument and know your place in tradition.

I agree, 100%. With all due respect to USA as the cradle of the blues and all their greats, still - Rory and Peter are just two examples - non-Americans can also do blues! ;-)
