@imita01 - Your comments remind me how ignorant I used to be.
1-Look at scales, music theories as maps in a huge country/city. It will save you a lot of time/energy and you will become very creative. Without that you will "eat bread and water" (play G,C) your whole life and your guitar will end up in the basement sooner or later:-).
2-Hendrix, as a poor kid, learned things from a lot of people, SRV learned from his brother and other people. They didnt become great by ignoring m. knowledge.

@terroristofmeh... Also, Jimi Hendrix didn't read music and didn't always play perfectly in scale... And, I think he was decent right? Also, there what about stevie ray vaughan.. he just played by ear. I mean come man, The scales aren't the basis for the guitar... to me they are just patterns within the guitar, and in that sense saying someone needs to learn the scales to play guitar is equally bogus as saying you gotta learn the guitar to play scales..
-
@terroristofmeh. Disagree, i didn't learn the guitar based off of scales and stuff at first. I learned how to play the trombone, trumpet, and various other brass instruments in that manner since I had to play those instruments in large symphonies and orchestras when I was younger, but to me the guitar is about individual expression. I mean come on, most people that play aren't gonna be in a band or go into virtuoso style music.. Just get the sounds out of your brain, just plug and play man.

guys cum face when he plays :D

If it helps, I'm currently working on GuitarJamTracks(.)com
I'm gathering a collection of free guitar backing tracks created by different people and organizing them by key, tempo, suggested scales. I would love to get any feedback I can get so I can make the site more useful.

@aenima187 yea you can totally play a blender but u may not be able to hit ALL the notes lol, unless you have a blender with lots of buttons,i tune my tattoo machine to F SHARP for lining and to D for shading lmao :)
-
@terroristofmeh You are correct. Leads (solos) are built from scales and modes. What a lot of people don't know is that chords are also derived from scales and modes, and, therefore, knowing them makes one a much better musician, while not knowing them is very limiting.

Gotta learn scales for soloing, most solos are built on scales... People who don't know scales and who call them "BORING" will not become very good
