BMW Vision Efficient Dynamics concept - Frankfurt Autoshow 2009

BMW opened the Frankfurt auto show with this, the vision efficient dynamics concept. The car successfully paints green, flagship and premium language into the same space - and importantly, is thought to show a vision as to how BMW's M Performance division could survive, change and flourish in a future world where carbon emissions taxes might otherwise push performace cars out of existence. Note the layered surfacing, creating a lightweight body work, and the four seat interior, made possible by the drivetrain configuration, featuring a three cylinder turbo-diesel engine in front of the rear axle, which - like the front - contains a hybrid electric drive unit.
