Some behavior traits are coded on different genes and are inherited separately, enabling new combinations of traits as demonstrated by this Britannia Petite/Himalayan cross bred doe. Generally, territorially aggressive rabbits are fidgety and hard to handle. Rabbits that are docile tend to relax and be easy to handle. This cross bred doe is demonstrating a new combination of traits in that she is both very aggressive and territorial but relaxes and is easy to handle when held. She does this every single time. Interesting, huh?

  • is her cage big enough?

  • @JaimeeLauren Yes.. but that didn't stop me from getting lot bigger cages than this one for the rabbits. I actually prefer big cages for even little rabbits. It's all good.

  • She is just whimpering because she wants to get Bred

  • @OneidaFishWhisperer Exactly!

  • Hi. I'm sorry that your little Britannia Petite has become more aggressive. Might be something you can do about that. At least worth a try. Put a feeder on her cage so you can feed her from the outside. Petites get upset if you invade their space everyday. She may calm down. When you go to get her out, put something in first. Let her jump at that and then grab her. She will learn that it is futile to resist. : ) Once out, be sweet and give her greens to nibble. She may calm some. Try it.

  • hi :) i came across this looking for britannia petites because i have one. they derive from wild hares, which is the reason for their aggressiveness. ive had mine since she was 4-6 months. the only time i find her aggressive is when she wants some lovin, if you know what i mean haha.. she's never attacked me though. she'll nip @ my ankles which is a normal habit, but other than that..shes a doll. she loves cuddling as well.

  • @halamahdi If you just handle no matter if she is aggressive or not she will start to become nicer .

  • Britannia Petites are not always aggressive. I have owned Britannia Petites for 10 yrs and I have noticed when you handle them at a young age the show no signs of aggression. As a member of the ARBA (American Rabbit Breeders Assoc.) I feel it was so wrong of you to mix two breeds, expecailly if you are not trying to make a new breed and get it accepted into the Standard Of Perffection.
