A traditional Hindu prayer

It is generally believed that Hindus worship many gods. But many Hindus will insist that God is one and that the various gods whom they worship are merely different incarnations of that one supreme God - the paramatma. Here is a Hindu prayer to one of their female deities. The prayer is heart-felt, the devotion is intense and the method is very simple and personal. It is difficult not to be moved whatever be your own belief!

I'm not even Hindu, I'm Christian. Hinduism is a beautiful religion, and it's so much more than you're giving it credit for. I'm assuming you don't know much about Hinduism since you refer to Ganesha and Hanuman as the "monkeys and elephants" but Hinduism is not a waste of time. You should put some thought and time into it before you judge the religion.

Moksha, Enlightenment is earned, not given or begged for, unlike Heaven. That's the difference between the two. Getting to heaven is not that difficult, all a pedophile or a terrorist needs to do is to grovel & beg like a dog. He gets to enjoy a flesh-happy heaven while his victims live thru hell. Moksha is earned thru knowledge, and knowledge has to be earned, not given. A Teacher who gives pass marks to a failed student is not doing him a favor. Reach for the Higher goal, reach for Moksha.
