this on the steese highway north of fairbanks? Great ptarmigan hunting up there and moose hunting on Birch Creek.

Where abouts was this filmed? I live down in South central and I am looking to get into some ptarmigan hunting my self. We have Spruce and Ruffed grouse nearby but I havnt seen any ptarmagin down in the valley.

@AlaskaWildfowl sounds like a good trip, this week me and a few buddies are heading into the woods for a few days, I'm hoping to fill my bag limit of 50 birds. whats the bag limit out in Alaska? here its 25 a day and you can 50 in your freezer so to speak.

It really depends on where you are in the state and what time of the year for limits. Some places are 50 a day and some are 5 a day. it also changes depending on the time. Most places lmiits are 10 a day.

willow or rock Ptarmigan? didnt see any red eye's and judging by there size I'm going to say willow's. that's what we hunt over here in labrador, but rock's are starting to show up around here now, along with ruffed grouse, we used to only have spruce grouse until the last year or 2.

On that trip we shot both rock and willows. We just finished a trip that we did the alaska ptarmign slam, rock, willow and white-tails.
