Since Tom put this style of voice on for his act, which I love, by the way, what kind of feedback he was getting from his band about doing it? He doesn't do this style any more...probably because of the stew bum association that comes with it...and I have no gripes about his albums...but when you see him live now...he uses that big gruff voice that has none of the grazza grooga this period had. So, in some ways, his live shows before he hits the piano, have less personality than before...

I read..after reading every damn thing you could possibly get your hands on in the last thirty years...I really mean everything...I recently read that Tom felt like his face was made of rubber the first time he performed in front of an audience...like he barely had any control over it. I'll assume he was talking about his work after his high school band....I got up in front of people to do a bit for the first time in my life two weeks ago...(I'm sixty) and I tell you..all those faces....
