I saw an NFL Films story about him years ago. They had a reunion in '88 shortly after he recovered from a stroke. They were taking a team picture when he quipped "I'll see you boys at the next reunion 30 years from now! " Lol

He had a brother, Ebert,who also played for the Eagles from1951-1953.

@beatlejim64 The Rams were a great passing team in 49. I truly believe if the championship had not be played in a total downpour on a mud field the Rams might have won. At least the would not have been shut out. The conditions favored the power running game of the eagles.

The Eagles won the NFL title in 1948 and 1949...they are the only team, to win back to back titles with shutouts...7-0 in 1948,,,and 14-0 in 1949...
