  • My husband is also over 100,000 in debt. Law School tuition was about ten thousand dollars a semester. Just for tuition. It's not like he took out a lump sum loan for college and went out and bought a new car, or partied with it. Even with his income from being a lawyer, we cannot afford to pay back his loans. They are in deferrment, and wracking up tons of interest every month. His buisiness is suffering, people don't have the money to pay an attorney. If we're scared, imagine the average Jo

  • I feel your pain, and feel that I am the average Jo. I hope you join our group - we're 238,000+ and an established 501(c)(4).

  • Student debts need to be cancelled...- Congress critters are more impressed with actual meetings. Emails won't cut it. Call your rep. and request a personal meeting. be polite and way way informed. Spread the word, and Good luck.

  • I've been doing that, too.l even spoke directly to Arne Duncan at an event in D.C. So far, no dice. We're doing everything we can . . . thanks for the support.

  • HEY SO, If I didn't spend all that money you people wasted does that mean The government should give it to me? No? Then why the fuck should you get it. Make smart choices. Don't buy it if you can't afford it. I chose not to go to school because it was too expensive. I Forged my own path and worked hard to get ahead. Plenty of times I had nothing to eat but you know what. I am a stronger person now and this gentleman with no college education makes over 50k a year. PEACE

  • Pay for yourself and stop asking for a handout. You should have got a job and paid for classes as you went if college was that important to you. But I see the only thing college has taught you is being a free loader. Now go get some made up mental illness and file for disability so you don't have to work and pay your debt. Work the system like all the beggars like you do. After seeing video's like yours I will be joining the fight to make you pay back what you owe.

  • Instead of asking for a handout maybe you should attack the educational system.

What exactly did those loans get you? I noticed that you can string sentences together with big words, that is not a valuable skill. Maybe you can type and use spreadsheets, any vocational school could teach that.

Face it. Colleges are duping people by teaching them to appear smart but leaving them with no money-making skills.

  • Thank you... this issue needs to be publicized, and in a manner that doesn't heap more insult on debtors' injuries. I can never pay back my student loan, esp after half of it is compounded interest. My Masters degree got me a lowpaying job though I am grateful for the opportunity to have had the higher education. At this point my husband and I are concerned the feds will take our home and social security payments.... and this is all we have for our old age.

  • great job, it is amazing how much money Universities and Colleges actually clear after salarys and bills are paid...........

  • Student loan debt taking a liberal arts degree is like having a sub prime loan with mortgages being more than the value of the home. Forgiving loans will be required like a TARP program. Who cares if those with 100,000 in mutual funds take a bit more of a portfolio hit when most of us do not have the luxury of investing let alone barely being able to afford groceries. Investments and economic recovery talk is for the few and priviledged who wants to get richer. We need to eat first.

  • I forwarded your video around to all my youtube contacts.

  • I'm in debt for student loans..I'm also on ssi for Mental Health reasons, I don't work & I don't think I'll ever be gainfully employed. If I knew what life was like and understood and more attuned to my personal difficulties then I never would have taken any loans out to go to college...I just did what comes next like I went from 11th to 12th grade to "oh now its time to take out loans and go to college" I believe college should be more accessible/flexible and not so expensive in the 1st place.
