The signals this coils picked up from the laptop, that sounded a bit like old modem connecting to the internet are really cool. I think I might build one of those myself (just a coil and an opamp, not the tv oscilloscope). Awesome!

can this be done to a Magnavox model 13MT1532/17 2006 12 inch color tv ?

@scottvomit3 I really don't know, all TVs are pretty different. You won't know until you try, and testing it isn't too hard. Just find the vertical deflection coil and hook it up to an audio source while the TV is on. If you get wiggles on the screen then the mod will work. Its generally going to be easier to convert it the older the TV is, and it helps if it's black and white. But you should still try it. You can find the instructions for converting it at the link above.

i just read your article on Instructables. It looks cool, dangerous and complicated. When you put the coil to your laptop speakers is the music being transmitted into the TV as well, because it makes the music louder?

@TheMightyKinkle Yeah, that's right. The coils in the laptop speakers make a magnetic field that is supposed to drive the speaker, but it is also picked up by the coil that is attached to the oscilloscope if it's close enough.
