Poem from the book "Your Face Is a Kiss : Discovering the Miracles of Being" by David Ronen.
at the gate
precious gate
cheek against the heavy door
pressing my heart into it
ive longed for this gate!
fingers running over texture
breathing wood and iron
such a long way
through death after death after death
lost and then found
and then lost
always longing for you
living in the house thats
in the yard
behind this gate
longing to share in our gaze
whats more precious than the door to my beloved?
*
boots off
brush my forehead with the back of my arm
take a breath
is there fresh water to wash my face?
are there fresh clothes to wear?
will you be gone if i take too long to get ready?
*
utterly desirable
completely unknowable
until i look
i say i do before lifting the veil
its not your form
its who you are
to gaze where no reflection returns
do i dare?
you show your self to me
i dont survive the beauty
