You can keep the grids from coming on by putting a switch on the little positive wire that energizes the grid heater relay. There is one relay for each grid and I wired them together into one switch so that both grids always comes on, you can see that having both on drastically reduces the on/off cycle that it does after it starts. This will work for all years but I believe 1998+ cummins will bring up the check engine light (code fault).
